Calphalon Chef Demo and Shopping Party

• When sauteing onions, always add salt at the end as to avoid leathery onions.
• The more you dice an onion the more pungent it will taste. To enjoy a sweeter garlic flavour, keep the garlic as whole as possible.
• Keep your herbs fresher longer - cut off the ends like you would a bouquet of flowers, place them in water in your fridge and lightly wrap in saran.
• For best-tasting French onion soup, use consomme, a type of soup made from richly flavoured stock and always go with emmenthal cheese.
• How do you know if your eggs are fresh? The tighter a cracked egg on your frying pan the fresher it is.
• Never add herbs to your sauces or dishes at the end of the cooking process! For full flavour, saute the herbs to draw out the essential oils before adding them to your dishes. Throwing parsley in your tomato sauce 5 minutes before serving won’t cut it! ;)
